Vitamin D3
Also known as: Cholecalciferol, The sunshine vitamin
The sunshine vitamin that supports mood, cycle balance, skin health, and overall wellness. Essential when you're not getting enough natural sun.
What it is
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the form of vitamin D your skin makes from sunlight, and it's also available from a small number of foods and supplements. It behaves more like a hormone than a typical vitamin once it's activated in the body.
Why we use it
Many Australians spend more time indoors or use sun protection (as they should), which can mean lower natural vitamin D production — so we include D3 across several formulas to help fill that everyday gap.
What the research generally suggests
Research generally links adequate vitamin D status to bone health and normal immune and mood function; evidence for supplementation benefits is strongest in people who are actually low in it, rather than as a universal booster.
Typical amounts
Everyday maintenance doses commonly range from around 400-1,000 IU per day, while higher therapeutic doses (several thousand IU) are typically only used under medical guidance for diagnosed deficiency.
In Flexies products: 100-5,000 IU per serving.

Good to know
- • Vitamin D is fat-soluble and can accumulate, so very high doses over long periods aren't advisable without medical supervision.
- • If you take other vitamin D-containing supplements or medications, keep track of your total daily intake.
- • If you suspect a deficiency, a simple blood test via your GP is the most reliable way to know your levels.
As always, if you're unsure whether this ingredient is right for you, chat to your GP or pharmacist before adding it to your routine.
