Maca Extract
Also known as: Lepidium meyenii, Peruvian ginseng
The Andean root with a long wellbeing heritage, loved as a daily botanical for the energy and mood side of your month. Cycle Calm contains 50mg maca extract per serve.
What it is
Maca is a root vegetable native to the high Andes, traditionally eaten as a food staple and, more recently, studied for its role in energy and everyday wellbeing.
Why we use it
We include 50mg maca extract in Cycle Calm PMS Gummies for its traditional use around energy and cycle-related wellbeing, alongside evening primrose oil and B vitamins.
What the research generally suggests
Most human research on maca in women has looked at other life stages, such as peri- and post-menopause and sexual wellbeing, rather than PMS specifically. It's best understood as a traditional women's-wellbeing botanical, included in Cycle Calm for that heritage.
Typical amounts
Human studies commonly use around 1.5-3g of maca root powder daily. Cycle Calm provides 50mg maca extract per daily serve; powder and extract amounts are reported separately.
In Flexies products: 50mg per serving.
