    XOS (Xylooligosaccharides)

Also known as: XOS, Prebiotic fibre

Premium prebiotic that selectively feeds Lactobacillus species. Helps probiotics thrive in your gut so they can colonise where it matters most.

    What it is

Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are a type of prebiotic fibre — food for the beneficial bacteria already living in your gut, rather than a probiotic bacteria itself.

    Why we use it

We include XOS in Women's Probiotic Gummies to help support and "feed" the Lactobacillus probiotic strains in the same formula, so they have a better chance of establishing themselves.

    What the research generally suggests

Research on XOS generally suggests it selectively encourages the growth of beneficial Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species in the gut, similar to other well-studied prebiotic fibres, supporting a healthier balance of gut bacteria overall.

    Typical amounts

Studies and products commonly use daily amounts in the range of 1-2g, though beauty/wellness gummies often include smaller supportive amounts alongside probiotic strains.

In Flexies products: 100mg per serving.

    Benefits

    • Lactobacillus fuel
    • Microbiome support
    • Colonisation
    • Gut health

    Good to know

    • As with most fibres, introducing XOS can cause mild bloating or gas initially in sensitive individuals, which typically settles with continued use.
    • Those with a fructose or FODMAP sensitivity may want to introduce it gradually.

As always, if you're unsure whether this ingredient is right for you, chat to your GP or pharmacist before adding it to your routine.
