Beta Carotene
Also known as: Provitamin A, Beta-carotene
The natural pigment that gives your skin a tan-ready, sun-kissed undertone from the inside out. Converts to vitamin A as needed.
What it is
Beta carotene is a plant pigment (carotenoid) found in orange and yellow vegetables like carrots and sweet potato. Your body can convert some of it into vitamin A as needed.
Why we use it
We include it in Tanning Gummies because carotenoids like beta carotene can deposit subtly in skin, contributing to a warmer, sun-kissed undertone over time.
What the research generally suggests
Research on carotenoid supplementation, including some studies specifically on beta carotene, generally supports a gradual warming effect on skin tone with consistent use — this is a slow, cumulative effect rather than an overnight tan.
Typical amounts
Studies looking at skin tone effects have commonly used daily doses in the range of 6-15mg over several weeks.
In Flexies products: 8mg per serving.

Good to know
- • Very high, prolonged intake can cause carotenodermia — a harmless yellow-orange skin tint that fades once intake is reduced.
- • This is a gradual glow support ingredient, not a replacement for sunscreen or sun safety.
